Alice, a single mother, is a dedicated senior plant breeder at a corporation engaged in developing new species. Against company policy, she takes one home as a gift for her teenage son, Joe. Written and directed by Scott Graham, RUN will have its European premiere as part of the ‘Journey’ strand. An after dark joyride drives a small-town fish worker to risk everything. Produced by Bard Entertainments, Barry Crerar, BFI Film Fund and BBC Films.
Co-written and co-directed by Harry Lighton, POMPEII will screen as part of short film programme ‘The Culture’. Tam gets on the first tube home, plugs himself into his phone and begins reliving his night out via social media stories.
Associate produced by Fateme Ahmadi, COUP 53 will screen as part of the Documentary Competition. Award-winning director Taghi Amirani’s decade-long investigation into the 1953 CIA/MI6-led coup that overthrew Iran’s democratic Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh. Edited by Walter Murch.
