Paul Skillen

Paul Skillen and Aaron Gray are Belfast based writers. They have made a number of award winning science fiction and horror short films. ‘THE WAY BACK’ and ‘ECHOES’ both played international festivals securing UK and American television broadcasts. The pilot episode of their pre-apocalyptic family drama ‘DINOSAURS’ was funded and broadcast by RTE.

They are currently developing an eco-horror TV series, ‘BELOW’, with a major UK production company. A ten part audio series based on the project is scheduled for release 2023.

‘MAIDENSANDS’, their contemporary folk horror feature, has been optioned and is in development with an American production company

In 2022 they were shortlisted for the Element Pictures NI Writers Award for their TV thriller project ‘GRAVEYARD SHIFT’.

Paul also writes on his own. He started out writing radio comedy and was a BBC New Talent Winner. His drama shorts 'THE FAMILIAR STING' and ‘THE SILENCE BETWEEN’ are currently on the festival circuit. In recent years he has written animation series for both BBC Bitesize and the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission.

Paul is exploring development opportunities for his drama feature script ‘THE MUSIC TEACHER’ and his children’s fantasy feature ‘GIANT’.
