Alfie Barker

Alfie is a writer and director from Leeds, who grew up making short films with his dog instead of going to university.

His short HANGING ON was long-listed for a BIFA, shortlisted for a Grierson
Award, premiered at TIFF, screened at BFI London Film Festival and won both Best British Short and UK Audience Award at Encounters.

His recent short HALF WAY funded by BFI Network is due for 2023 festival release, starring Sameena Jabeen Ahmed (Catch Me Daddy). He is currently developing his debut feature film, which has been selected for Le Groupe Ouest's, LIM: Less Is More screenwriters lab in France.

Alfie is a previous BFI Future Film Award winner, Sundance Ignite Finalist and shortlisted for Sony Future Filmmaker Award. He is an alumni of Screen Yorkshire's FLEX, Creative UK’s ShortFLIX and BFI Film Academy (NFTS).
