Azan Ahmed

Azan is a multi-award winning writer & actor. Recently, his second play STATUES received its world premiere at the Bush Theatre where it won the Outstanding Stage Performance Award and was nominated for Best Stage Production at the Asian Media Awards.

His debut play DAYTIME DEEWANE won the Off-West End Award for Best TYA Writing (2023). After a successful UK Tour, the play transferred to Sydney's National Theatre of Parramatta where it was nominated for a Sydney Theatre Award (2025).

Currently on attachment at the Orange Tree Theatre, Azan has also completed the Royal Court's Playwrights Group (2024), Hampstead Theatre's INSPIRE programme (2023) and was a recipient of the Barbican Open Lab (2022). He is also a finalist of the Roundhouse Poetry Slam.

Azan is currently working on a screen adaptation of STATUES amongst other projects. As an actor, he has worked at the National Theatre, RSC and Shakespeare's Globe as well has co-starring in ITV's Van Der Valk alongside Marc Warren.
