Cecile Emeke is a director, writer and artist currently based in London. She began working with moving image in the online space in 2014, independently producing and directing ‘Strolling’, an international documentary series focused on the personal stories of subjects of the global Black diaspora. Around the same time, she also debuted her first narrative short film ‘Ackee & Saltfish’ which she would later develop into an online web series and ultimately became a BBC Three commissioned comedy feed.
Cecile has gone on to continue to cross lines of genre and form; her work since has varied from writing and directing the Tate Modern commissioned art film ‘The Ancestors Came’, to directing mainstream television shows such as HBO’s ‘Insecure’ and Sky’s ‘In The Long Run’.
Cecile is currently working on her debut feature film backed by BBC Films.
