Cecilia Verheyden

Cecilia Verheyden (°1985) studied Audiovisual Arts at the The Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema and Sound (RITCS) in Brussels and is now a well known and experienced director of successful film and television series.

She directed several episodes of the comedy show WHAT IF? (Emmy Award - 2014), and she showran and directed the first season of the most popular Flemish web series to date, wtFOCK. She also directed the feature film BEHIND THE CLOUDS (2016), which became a huge box office success in Belgian theaters.

Verheyden has been making her mark internationally as well. She directed high end series MALDITOS (2025, HBO max), ROUGH DIAMONDS (2023, Netflix), UNDERCOVER S2 (2020, Netflix, Eén); as well as its spin-off feature film FERRY (2021, Netflix).

In 2025, Verheyden's third feature - and deeply personal - film SKIFF, that she co-wrote with Vincent Vanneste was released. SKIFF premiered at the Tallin Black Nights Film Festival and was selected for various international film festivals such as BFI Flare in London and Gijón International Film Festival (Winner Fipresci Award Best Film).
