Joan Gill Amorim

Joan Gill Amorim is an editor with a passion for empowering through storytelling. Working across documentary and scripted film, she has a particular knack for weaving together competing storylines and bringing archive to life in edits that are empathetic, rhythmic and textural. Over more than fifteen years her work has found homes on Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon, Apple TV and Sky, earning awards including Best Editing at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival and Creative Circle Gold.

Originally from southeastern Virginia, Joan has lived in Italy, Brazil and Hong Kong before making London her home, and questions of identity, belonging and social justice run quietly through much of her work. Her features include Kevin Macdonald's Whitney , Khadifa Wong's multi award-winning Uprooted - The Journey of Jazz Dance - which premiered at Raindance and won multiple Best Documentary Awards on its festival run, Emmy-winner Liz Lachman’s Susan Feniger: Forked, and additional editing on Macdonald's High & Low - John Galliano. More recently she has moved into immersive theatre - among them Elvis Evolution - blending live performance with edited film. In short form, her work ranges from Remembering with Brie Larson to Matt Kennard's Before You Go, starring Sonny Walker, which premiered at Raindance 2026, picking up Best Live Action Short and Best UK Short nominations.

An avid reader, knitter and women’s football fan, Joan is based in London and available to work across the US, EU and Brazil.
