Kate Reid is a Northern Irish-English writer-performer, who trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (2016-2018). She has since completed the Soho Theatre Writers Lab (2021-2022), the Channel 4Screenwriting Course (2023-2024), and the Left Bank & NFTS Diverse Writers Development Programme (2024).
On stage, her plays include A GIRL, STANDING (Theatre503), REFRACT (King’s Head Theatre), THE 4thCOUNTRY (Park Theatre), and THE CLEANER (Traverse Theatre; rehearsed reading). She was a finalist for the Royal Court's Lynne Gagliano Award (2019); Pleasance Theatre’s Charlie Hartill Award (2020); and Sister & South Of The River Productions’ Screenshot Award (2021). She then went on to win Theatre Royal Haymarket’s Masterclass Competition (2023).
On screen, she has written sketches for the BBC One series AGE OF OUTRAGE, and her first short film, TWO STEPS FORWARD, was nominated for Best Screenplay at Little Wing Film Festival. She and her writing partner Zak Ghazi-Torbati were shortlisted for World Productions’ Writers Award (2021); runners-up for the David Nobbs Memorial Award (2021); and won TCN’s WriterSlam (2021). This led to Ranga Bee producing their sitcom pilot THE OTHER HALF, which aired on Dave in 2022. It was nominated for Best New Sitcom and Comedy of the Year at the British Comedy Guide Awards, and they were nominated as Debut Writers at the Edinburgh TV Festival New Voice Awards.
She is currently working on several commissions across comedy and drama, whilst on Hampstead Theatre’s Inspire Programme (2024-2025) and the BBC Comedy Collective (2024-2025). She is represented as a performer by Laura Stokes at The Artists Partnership.
