Misha Vertkin

Misha is a queer, Azeri writer/director born and bred in the wet and windy wilds of working-class Devon.

He’s an NFTS Directing Fiction grad, where he attended on a Screenskills/AMD Scholarship, and has since been mentored by Toby Haynes, Charles Martin, J Blakeson, Claire Oakley and Will McGregor via BAFTA Connect, Directors UK Inspire and the Netflix & Disney+ HETV Mentorship Schemes.

He's won awards from the BFI Future Film Festival (Best Fiction Film), Encounters Film Festival/Fresh Flix (Emerging Talent) and Media Innovation Awards (Best Newcomer); while his grad film was nominated for Best Postgraduate Drama at the RTS awards; as well as being mentioned in The Guardian as one of 'Five to Watch'.

Currently, he works as a 2nd Unit director in HETV on shows such as THE GENTLEMEN (Netflix), PRIME TARGET (Apple+) and CULPRITS (Disney+); and has had various feature films/TV projects optioned with several production companies including Watford & Essex, Erebus Pictures, Joi Productions, Paradise City, Films du Poisson and Memento.
