Paul Trewartha is a London based documentary editor.
He is currently editing a feature documentary on Desmond Tutu, directed by Sam Pollard (MLK/FBI, Mr. Soul!, Sammy Davis, Jr.: I've Gotta Be Me) Produced by Hidden Light Productions for Universal Pictures.
Paul recently completed work on BEAT OF A NATION: KEROUAC’S ROAD for Universal Pictures, produced by John Battsek (Wham!, Listen To Me Marlon, Searching For Sugarman) and Eliza Hindmarch (Kid 90, The September Issue). Directed by Ebs Burnough (The Kapote Tapes) the film paints a portrait of contemporary America through the lens of Jack Kerouac and his seminal novel On The Road.
January 2025 saw the release of DON’T DIE; THE MAN WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER on Netflix, produced and directed by Chris Smith (Tiger King, Fyre and Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond). The film dives into the controversial wellness practices one man is using to maintain youth and vitality and the effect this journey has on himself and those around him.
Recent credits include BRANSON for HBO. Produced and directed by Chris Smith - A four part series chronicling the life of Richard Branson as he prepared for his first space flight.
THE SPARKS BROTHERS, a feature documentary on Sparks and their 50-year career in the music business directed by Edgar Wright (Baby Driver, Shaun of the Dead) and produced by Nira Park (Rebecca, The Kid Who Would Be King) and George Hencken (The Greatest Night in Pop, Soul Boys of the Western World, Oil City Confidential). The film was acquired by Focus Features following its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and notching a 95% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. The documentary won Best Music Film at the NME Awards 2022, it was longlisted for the 2022 BAFTA award for Best Documentary, won five other major awards and was nominated for a further 26.
KIPCHOGE: THE LAST MILESTONE, exec produced by Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner) and Kevin Macdonald (Touching the Void, Whitney). Directed by Jake Scott (Welcome to the Rileys). The film tells the story of Eliud’s life and his record breaking sub two-hour marathon.
RONNIE’S, chronicling the life of Ronnie Scott and his legendary Jazz Club which premiered at DOCNYC in 2020. It won four major awards and was longlisted for the Best Documentary Award at BIFA2020. The film was directed by Oliver Murray (The Quiet One) and produced by Eric Woolard-White (For Love or Money) for Goldfinch Entertainment.
FERRARI: RACE TO IMMORTALITY, directed by Daryl Goodrich and produced by Julia Taylor-Stanley (Coriolanus, The Tempest) and Kevin Loader (The Lady in the Van, Nowhere Boy). It premiered at the 12th Rome Film Fest and won the Focal International Award for Best Use of Footage in a Sports Production.
Through his career Paul has gained many awards and accolades, he directed and animated a short film that has been shown at over 100 festivals internationally, winning awards at both the Montreal and Bilbao Film Festivals and nominated for a British Animation Award. His film work has been represented by the British Council and formed part of touring exhibitions. He was awarded an honorary fellowship to the Royal Society of Arts and was featured in the British Film Catalogue which saw his work represented at the Cannes Film Festival. His extensive broadcast work has seen him collaborate on BAFTA nominated and the EMMY Award winning shows.
