Sue Townsend

Sue Townsend was one of Britain’s best writers and humorists whose work encompassed books, plays and screenplays. Her best known character was Adrian Mole and until her death in April 2014, she was working with Jake Brunger and Pippa Cleary whose adaptation of MOLE THE MUSICAL will premiere at the Curve in Leicester in March 2014. Her most recent book, THE WOMAN WHO WENT TO BED FOR A YEAR is being developed as a film. THE QUEEN AND I is also being developed as a film by Ryan Murphy (GLEE).

Stephen Mangan, who played Adrian Mole in Sue’s adaptation of the CAPPUCCINO YEARS, stated that “she was one of the funniest, warmest and wisest people I have ever met”.
